Environmental problems in Colombia.
Hello, I am Joshuan Cardozo and I am 16 years old. I come to present my blog about the environmental problems of the country where I live.
In this blog I will not emphasize the main problems, since I feel that they are mentioned a lot, instead I will talk about those that also affect the country in one way or another. These problems would be:
*Armed conflicts
*Trahs
*Illegal mining
*Hazardous waste
Let's start with the first topic, which would be armed conflicts.
Armed conflicts not only affect socially, but also environmentally, because as seen in the infographic above, armed groups take over rural areas and use it against the population, for example, if these groups take over an area near a river, they would begin to spill substances to contaminate the waters, such as the most common, which is oil.
second theme, trash
Garbage or excess waste mostly contaminates the water, since garbage is usually thrown into streams and these can lead to rivers and pollute them. Also in the air, since excess garbage produces unhealthy gases, such as ammonia, methane and nitrous oxide.
third issue, illegal mining
Illegal mining activities constantly contribute to the pollution of the ozone layer, which ends up being deposited in our rivers and consumed by all of us, affecting the aquatic habitat, the soil, the fauna and all the living beings around it.
According to the district secretary of the environment of Bogota, he tells us:
The main impact caused by the inadequate management of hazardous waste is in the affectation
The main impact caused by the inadequate management of hazardous waste is in the affectation
of natural resources due to inadequate disposal in green areas, parks and bodies of water
reducing the quality of the environment due to contamination of soil, water, atmosphere and/or impact on species
animals or plants, generating in turn a public health problem since these, depending on their composition,
They can promote the generation of offensive odors and the creation of substances that can affect health.
In conclusion, some factors that seem unrelated to the issue, such as armed conflict or hazardous waste, really do have relevance to our environment and even more than it seems.
